Effectively Treating Pain with Injections

Alleviate your recurring headaches and certain neck spasms with Botox/Dysport/Myobloc injections designed for therapeutic purposes. Massapequa Neurologic works with you to make this treatment a smooth and positive experience. We also offer trigger point injection (TPI) as an alternative procedure and B12 injections. Specialty Form of Treatment

Once Botox/Dysport/Myobloc is recommended as part of your treatment plan, there are many required steps involved in this particular method. These actions listed below are necessary in order for you to receive the injections and avoid high, out-of-pocket expenses:
  1. Most insurance providers require up to three prior authorizations; one for medication, one for injection, and one for specialty pharmacy, which dispenses the medication.
  2. Prior authorization processes are started in a timely manner. This sometimes takes up to six weeks, and the timeframe is dictated by your insurance company, not by Massapequa Neurologic.
  3. Due to the lengthy process of authorization, if you have an insurance change of any kind, you must notify our office and let the staff know you receive Botox/Dysport/Myobloc, as well. A change in insurance requires a total restart of authorization and can once again take up to six weeks.
  4.  Since the processing of authorization is controlled by your insurance company, there may be times when your original Botox/Dysport/Myobloc appointment needs to be rescheduled. We do apologize for any inconvenience, but once again, it is out of our hands.
  5. The Botox/Dysport/Myobloc is typically delivered to our office through a specialty pharmacy chosen by your insurance company. Most specialty pharmacies require your consent for the medication before they ship it to us. Therefore, you will receive a call from them with an unknown phone number, and they will leave a simple message without detail, due to HIPAA. Please listen to it and call back. We cannot take care of this step for you.
  6.  After consent is given, please contact us so shipment can be arranged. 
  7. Once Botox/Dysport/Myobloc is shipped to our office, it is not returnable. 
  8. Please make sure you inform us if you do not want to continue treatment. Botox/Dysport/Myobloc is administered at intervals of either every three or six months and automatically started in a timely manner. It is a time-consuming process for our staff, so please be considerate if you are not continuing the treatment. Please call to also notify us, as just informing the specialty pharmacy or insurance company of your discontinuation does not deliver the message. They do not relay the information to our staff.
